On sale this spring, the 2016 Mini Cooper Convertible starts at $26,800. The range-topping JCW model, which packs 228 hp, jumps to at least $36,450.
For the new model year, the Mini Cooper convertible receives additional paint colors including Caribbean Aqua and Melting Silver. Buyers can also equip their convertible with Malt Brown leather with diamond-patterned stitching.
Standard features on the Mini Cooper Convertible include a 6.5-inch display screen, leatherette upholstery, 12-color ambient interior lighting, 60/40 split folding rear seats, and rain sensing windshield wipers. A Technology package upgrades to an 8.8-inch display, navigation, and rearview camera.
The base model features a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with 134 hp, while the Cooper S model, priced at $30,450, gets an upgraded 2.0-liter turbo-four with 189 horses.
The JCW trim level packs an even greater punch from its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The model produces 228 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. According to Mini’s estimates, the car should hit 60 mph in 5.9 seconds when equipped with the six-speed automatic, or 6.1 seconds with the six-speed manual — matching the numbers for the JCW hardtop. JCW models also feature a sport exhaust, aero kit, upgraded suspension tuning, sport brakes designed in collaboration with Brembo, and 17-inch JCW wheels.
The Mini Cooper Convertible goes on sale this March, with JCW models following later in April. Until then, check out the configurator to build your own convertible.
