Ed Loh Discusses the Trucks of the 2016 Detroit Auto Show (W/Video)

Cars may have dominated the show stage this year in Detroit, but there were three big truck debuts that turned heads and raised eyebrows. Editor-in-Chief Ed Loh talks about those pickups in this video, which features the Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew, Honda Ridgeline, and Nissan Titan Warrior concept.

We first saw the new Raptor last year in Detroit, but the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew that bowed this year represents a more production-ready off-road pickup. The truck benefits from the weight savings that come with the current F-150’s aluminum body, but gets a new twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 expected to make 450 hp and more torque than the original V-8-powered Raptor. Seeing the Raptor again in Detroit means it’s one step closer to being in our garage for testing.

Loh then moves to the 2017 Honda Ridgeline, which returns to the market after a brief absence. The pickup continues to share architecture with the front-drive-based Pilot, a fact that makes the Ridgeline controversial among truck enthusiasts. But with a more defined cab and bed, the Ridgeline now looks the part of a midsize pickup. Finally, Loh talks about the Nissan Titan Warrior concept, a hardcore version of the Titan that features a lift and more aggressive design. The concept may just preview a future Raptor-fighter.
