Subaru XV Concept Teased Ahead of Geneva Debut

Subaru has begun teasing the XV Concept, which will officially debut at the 2016 Geneva auto show. The model follows two Impreza concepts that were recently shown: the hatchback at the 2015 Tokyo auto show and the sedan at the 2015 Los Angeles auto show. Essentially a high-riding version of the Impreza, the XV Concept will preview the next-generation Crosstrek.

Based on the single teaser that was released, the Subaru XV Concept features a front end that appears to have taken cues from the Viziv Future Concept that was shown at the 2015 Tokyo auto show. It also bears a resemblance to the Viziv 2 Concept that first greeted the public at the 2015 Geneva auto show. Styling cues that have been used on the Subaru Impreza concepts, such as the C-shaped LED headlights, are also present in the XV Concept.

The Subaru XV Crosstrek has been on sale here since 2012 and has become one of Subaru’s best-selling vehicles in North America. In a five-car subcompact crossover comparison test, the Crosstrek took first place and won against newcomers like the Jeep Renegade, Honda HR-V, and Mazda CX-3. Not much is known regarding powertrain choices for the next generation, but the current model is available with a conventional gas engine or as a hybrid. Beginning this year, all Subaru vehicles will start moving to a single platform.
