2016 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen Gains Value-Themed Limited Edition

Volkswagen has added a Limited Edition trim level to the Golf SportWagen lineup. Prices for the 2016 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen Limited Edition start at $25,815 including destination.

The model slots in between the S and SE grades. The base S trim starts at $22,445 when equipped with a six-speed manual transmission while the SE grade begins at $27,845.

Standard equipment on the 2016 Golf SportWagen Limited Edition includes leatherette upholstery, keyless entry/start, heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, heated window washer nozzles, chrome window trim, and a Limited badge on the front fenders. The Limited Edition also comes with Volkswagen’s MIB II infotainment system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen, a USB port, and compatibility with Google Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and MirrorLink via the standard VW-Car Net App-Connect. To further improve the value proposition, Volkswagen added a host of active safety features to the Limited Edition such as standard autonomous emergency braking, blind spot warning, forward collision warning, and adaptive cruise control.

The only powertrain available is a 1.8-liter turbo-four producing 170 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque paired to a six-speed automatic transmission.  EPA fuel economy ratings are the same as all Golf SportWagens equipped with the automatic at 25/35 mpg city/highway. Compared to the Golf hatchback, the Golf SportWagen offers an expansive interior with 30.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the split-folding second row and up to 66.5 cubic feet with it down.
