Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype Bows at 2016 Geneva Motor Show

CARS.COM — If you couldn't make it to Switzerland for the debut of the Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype at the 2016 Geneva International Motor Show, don't worry. The third all-new entry in the Civic lineup is coming to New York — and if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.

The prototype will bow at the 2016 New York International Auto Show on March 22, showing off the sporty, aggressive design direction of the production version of the 2017 Civic Hatchback that will follow later this year. It will join the 2016 sedan, coupe, Si and Type R in what Honda is calling "the sportiest most expansive Civic lineup ever."

The teaser photo for the prototype indeed shows a menacing, track-cued four-door hatchback with a chiseled profile and bold character lines. Large fan-blade wheels, expansive LED taillights and dual exhaust outlets flanked by massive mesh openings give the hatch an attitude unlike anything you've likely associated with the Civic.
