See the New Hyundai Santa Fe’s Safety Exit Assist Feature in Action

The next-generation Hyundai Santa Fe has yet to make its official public debut at the Geneva Motor Show. But the crossover is already starring in an ad that sheds more light on its new Safety Exit Assist feature.

In the ad, a young child asks his father to pull over to the side of the highway when nature calls. The son tries to open the car door, but Safety Exit Assist kicks in to automatically lock the doors. It senses another vehicle approaching from the side and prevents the child from opening the door into oncoming traffic.

Hyundai says the Santa Fe will also offer Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist. When reversing out of a parking space, the system warns drivers if another vehicle is passing by and can automatically apply the brakes to prevent a crash.

The new Santa Fe adopts a few key styling elements from the Kona, including a twin headlight design and “cascading” grille. Inside the cabin, look for a free-floating infotainment screen and a digital instrument display. Many details including powertrain information remain unknown at this time.

We’ll learn more about the Hyundai Santa Fe when it debuts in Geneva this March. In the meantime, check out the ad below.
