Unplugged Performance introduced a wicked wide-body Tesla Model S kit at the 2018 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Hawthorne, California-based Tesla tuner offers upgrades for the Model S, and its new S-APEX P100D kit will dramatically change your four-door EV’s look for $50,000.
Each build is unique and includes a 19-piece pre-impregnated carbon-fiber body conversion, racing suspension with Unplugged’s own high-performance shocks, upgraded carbon ceramic brakes, ultra-light wheels, and fully bespoke interior bits.
The conversion increases the EV’s overall width by 1.57 inches at each corner. The wide-body kit allows for the use of wider tires up to 13.2 inches in the rear for better grip. Ultra-light forged wheels are offered in 19-, 20-, and 21-inch sizes.
Unplugged Performance’s lightweight carbon ceramic braking system is said to improve stopping power and helps sheds 20 pounds. According to Unplugged, the kit reduces rotational mass by more than 100 pounds. The tuner claims its car’s 0-60 mph acceleration beats Tesla’s own 2.3-second runs.
Inside, the headliner and pillars are re-trimmed in Alcantara, and the steering wheel, dashboard, center console, seats, and door cards also receive new materials. In addition to the latest Tesla Model S sedans, the S-APEX series kit can be retrofitted to older P85D, P90D, and P100D donor cars upon request.
