Toyota's waning Scion brand is hoping to get some new life with two new models for 2016 going on sale this September. The subcompact iA sedan will start at $16,495 and the compact iM hatchback at $19,255 (all prices include a $795 destination charge). The two new models come standard with manual transmissions. The six-speed automatic iA is priced at $17,595, and the iM is $19,995 with its continuously variable transmission. Scion continues to tout a "no haggle" dealership experience, so these prices are set in stone with no negotiating to be had. The brand does offer incentives like low interest rates or lease specials. The iA and iM also come in only one trim package, so no options are available. Related: 2016 Scion iA, iM: First Drives The iA is a collaboration with Mazda based on the next-generation Mazda2 for which Mazda has not announced a U.S. on-sale date. So for now, the only way to get it is actually in the little Scion. The iA comes with a surprising amount of standard equipment for the class — due to the fact that it doesn't offer options — including keyless entry, push-button start, a rearview camera, 16-inch alloy wheels, a 7-inch multimedia system and a standard low-speed precollision safety system. Those standard features should help offset the higher starting price versus competitors like the 2015 Ford Fiesta and 2015 Kia Rio sedans that start at $15,330 and $14,815 respectively. Fuel economy is superior in the Scion though estimated at 33/42/37 mpg city/highway/combined for the automatic and 31/41/35 mpg for the manual. On the larger side of things, the iM hatchback comes to market to compete with hatchbacks like the Ford Focus, Hyundai Elantra GT, Mazda3 and Subaru Impreza. Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, a six-speaker stereo, a 7-inch multimedia display and a 4.2-inch color display in the gauge cluster. It's not as impressive an array of standard features as the iA, but the price of the iM is below hatches like the Focus, Elantra GT and Mazda 3. However, its mileage isn't as superior in its class as the iA either at 28/37/32 mpg for the CVT model and 27/36/31 mpg for the manual.
