Nissan Juke-R 2.0: The Insane Crossover Gets a Refresh, (Even) More Power

Nissan Juke R 2.0

It would appear as though Nissan’s sense of humor hasn’t diminished since first creating—and then putting on sale—the 545-hp, all-wheel-drive Juke-R, a regular Juke force-fed a GT-R supercar’s running gear. That’s because, following a refresh of the pedestrian Juke, Nissan is giving the Juke R an update as well. Since a typical nip/tuck and infotainment upgrade is simply too uncool for something as wild as the Juke-R, Nissan took a more straightforward path to refreshing the über-SUV: It added more power.

-Specifically, Nissan’s crew swapped the “ordinary” GT-R’s twin-turbocharged V-6 for the 600-hp version from the GT-R NISMO. A new front bumper funnels more air through “100 percent” larger intakes, and it’s cooling job is aided by repositioned hood vents. There are also the latest GT-R wheels, a new rear bumper, plus the mildly re-contoured headlights and taillights from the 2015 Juke. Other automakers, take note: This is how you do a refresh.*

*First, take the engine from your most powerful car and put it in your weirdest, smallest product. Then remain curiously committed to it.
