For the 2018 model year, Jaguar has upgraded its Ingenium gas engine and now offers the turbo-four in the XF and F-Pace. Jaguar has also increased power for the 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 engine available in the XE S, XF S, and F-Pace S.
The revised gasoline engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that uses twin-scroll turbos, Continuously Variable Valve Lift technology, electro-hydraulic valve control, variable intake valve lift, direct injection, and an exhaust manifold that’s integrated with the cylinder head casting. In all, the new in-house-engineered engine makes 247 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque at only 1,200 rpm, up 7 hp and 18 lb-ft from the 2.0-liter turbo-four in the 2017 Jaguar XE. With the addition of the gas turbo-four, the XF’s entry price drops to $48,770.
As for the Jaguar XE S, it gets a newly tuned 3.0-liter V-6 that provides an additional 40 hp, the Jaguar XE S is now rated at 380 hp (up from 340) and takes the place of the old R-Sport trim package. The 40 extra horses is said to provide better acceleration off the line and “improved performance throughout the rev range.” That engine will also be offered in the XF S and F-Pace S. The XE S starts at $53,270, while the XF S starts at $64,860 and the F-Pace S starts at $60,770.
The 2018 Jaguar models with the revised engines will start appearing on dealer lots in May.
