We’ve already seen camouflaged prototypes and leaked renderings of the new Wrangler, but thanks to some new photos, we now we have a better idea of what to expect inside the cabin. Our spy photographers recently had the chance to see the SUV’s interior mostly uncovered, and it represents a nice evolution from the interior of the current model.
First and foremost, the prototype features a manual transmission, hinting that the model will once again offer a row-your-own option as it moves into its next generation. An eight-speed automatic is likely to be offered alongside the six-speed manual, and we also expect to see a turbocharged 2.0-liter “Hurricane” inline-four as one of the engine options.
Inside the cabin, you’ll find Fiat Chrysler’s latest UConnect system, which features no buttons on either side like on the previous version. The circular air vents are now located to the side of this screen rather than below it. Judging from the photos, the new Wrangler will also offer a heated steering wheel, heated seats, and dual-zone climate control.
At the very bottom of the center stack, there are off-road doo-dads including sway bar disable as well as auxiliary control switches for add-on features. Window switches on the center stack reveal that the doors should still be removable. The new Wrangler is expected to debut this fall before going on sale later this year or early in 2018.
