After undergoing a full redesign for 2016, the Hyundai Tucson is due for some minor updates. Trickling into dealerships now, the 2018 Hyundai Tucson receives more features and updated trim levels for the new model year.
The Tucson offers a new 7-inch touchscreen (with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay) as a midway point between the standard 5-inch screen and 8-inch screen. The new 7-inch screen comes standard on the SEL trim, which was previously known as the SE Popular Equipment package and came with a 5-inch unit. The next model up, the SE Plus, is now called the SEL Plus.
Hyundai has dropped the Eco trim, which boasted a superior fuel economy rating of 26/32/28 mpg when paired with front-wheel drive. The Night trim, which added black wheels and other cosmetic upgrades, is also gone.
Heated front seats have been expanded to the lower-level SEL trim and above models. SEL models are now available with SiriusXM Radio and HD Radio. The mid-range Value trim also offers an auto dimming inside rearview mirror with HomeLink and a standard 7-inch screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. An available Guidance Package now includes free map and multimedia system updates.
The Tucson remains available with two engine options. The first is a 1.6-liter turbo-four with 175 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque, paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder makes 164 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque and comes with a six-speed automatic.
