Bugatti Delivered 70 Chiron Supercars in 2017

The sound of champagne corks popping should be filling the air in Molsheim, as Bugatti delivered 70 Chiron supercars to lucky customers around the globe in 2017. The company reports that it has reached its target for the year.

Koenigsegg’s Agera RS may have bested Bugatti’s top speed record, but we imagine the Swedish supercar maker has a way to go to beat Molsheim’s profit margins.

The Chiron packs an quad-turbo 8.0-liter W-16 engine that cranks out 1,479 hp and 1,180 lb-ft of torque. It can scoot to 60 mph in 2.4 seconds. If you are on a budget, a used Kawasaki Ninja will get you there in about the same time.

“It is a tremendous success for the entire Bugatti team that we have already reached the target of 70 vehicles in the first full year of production of the Chiron. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our suppliers for their commitment and delivery compliance,” said Wolfgang Dürheimer, Bugatti president, in a statement.

“This outstanding performance is especially important because we aim to keep the waiting times for our customers as short as possible.”

The first vehicles were delivered to customers in March and the first Bugatti Chiron was delivered in the U.S. at Pebble Beach this past summer. To date, 300 Chirons have been sold worldwide and production is strictly limited to 500 units.

Bugatti tells us that 43 percent of orders have come from Europe, 26 percent from the U.S. and Canada, and 23 percent from the Middle East. The remaining 8 percent are from the Asia-Pacific region.

If you have at least $3 million burning a hole in your pocket, you should place an order now as 70 Chirons of the 500-unit run have already found homes.
