Cars.com's long-term 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300 4Matic test car has been no stranger to the dealership's service bay after a string of strange warranty issues. The latest trip, however, was for regular maintenance that ended up being our first out-of-pocket cost other than fuel and floormats. The total? We paid $261.81 for the first scheduled maintenance at 10,000 miles.

We actually blew past the 10,000-mile mark and weren't able to get the C300 into the dealership until 11,500 miles for Service A, which includes an oil change and inspection of numerous components. The whole service took about an hour while we waited. A technician changed the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder's seven quarts of 5W-40 full-synthetic oil and oil filter, as well as performed an inspection of the following:
- Exterior and interior light bulbs
- Windshield wiper system
- Seat belts
- Front and rear brake pads and rotors
- Tire wear and damage
- Tire pressure
- Under-hood fluids
- Battery
Our dealership threw in a $12 car wash for no charge and a $70 rewards card for the C300's next maintenance, which made the big service cost slightly easier to swallow. That $260 for an oil change and inspection isn't small change even if it's only a once-a-year service. We also extended our basic Mbrace subscription for $320 after the six-month trial ended and continued the services of Mbrace Secure, which features automatic collision notification, stolen vehicle assistance, emergency call from the car, automatic alarm notification and more.
