In the increasingly competitive mid-size-sedan segment, the midcycle refresh isn’t what it used to be. Previously an occasion for tweaking the front fascia and restyling the taillights, it has recently evolved into much more. For 2015, we saw the Toyota Camry treated to nearly all-new sheetmetal excepting the roof. This year, we have the Honda Accord getting its own fairly extensive makeover for 2016. Not to be outdone, the Nissan Altima—which regularly mixes it up with the Camry and the Accord at the top of the car-sales charts—has undergone a bigger-than-usual redo only three years after its last full redesign.
