Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Coming in June

Aston Martin is reviving two familiar names—DBS and Superleggera—for a new flagship Super GT that will debut this June. Leading up to the debut, the automaker has released a teaser image and short video previewing the new model.

Aston Martin isn’t providing any specific details. But we know the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera will replace the outgoing Vanquish S, which made a maximum of 595 hp from its naturally aspirated V-12. The new DBS Superleggera is part of Aston Martin’s Second Century Plan that calls for replacing each of its two-door sports cars. Aston Martin debuted a new Vantage late last year after rolling out a new DB11 earlier to replace the DB9.

The DBS name first appeared on the 1967 car designed by William Towns. Aston Martin brought back the name in 2007, and continued to use it for its flagship grand tourer until it introduced the Vanquish for the 2014 model year. Meanwhile, Aston Martin is also opting for Superleggera—or super light—construction, which we’ve seen on previous Aston Martins going way back to the DB4 and DB5.

Continuing its huge product offensive that is already in progress, Aston Martin is getting ready to roll out a production version of its DBX crossover concept, rumored to be named Varekai, for 2019. In the coming years through 2023, the brand will also introduce a mid-engine sports car, Lagonda sedan, and Lagonda SUV. The ultra-premium Lagonda brand will be made up entirely of battery-electric offerings.

Stay tuned as we learn more about Aston’s upcoming DBS Superleggera.
