Audi Teases PB 18 e-tron Concept Ahead of Pebble Beach Debut

Old cars get most of the attention during Monterey Car Week, but every year, automakers bring out a few concept cars, as well. This year, Audi plans to show off an electric supercar concept called the PB 18 e-tron. And in case you couldn’t figure out where the name came from, Audi made sure to explain in the release that it “refers to the Pebble Beach venue and the year of the debut.” So there you go.

But while the name isn’t particularly exciting, the car itself should be interesting. Audi says the design was inspired by the R18 e-tron Le Mans race car. Plus, it’s an electric supercar, so it’s probably safe to assume the PB 18’s spec sheet will be impressive. Unfortunately, we don’t have much information beyond that, and the teaser image does a good job of hiding most of the car.

After running the image through Photoshop, though, we were at least able to uncover a few details. Look closely, and you can see a more clearly defined hood, some curvier bodywork, and a panoramic glass roof. In the clarified version, what previously looked like it might be a wing actually looks more like a set of side-view cameras.

There’s a good chance Audi will release more info as we get closer to the official reveal, but if not, look for the PB 18 e-tron to be revealed on August 23.
