With an already luxurious Q7 topping its SUV lineup, some may ask why Audi needed to add another high-end sport ute to the mix. But the 2019 Audi Q8 is more than just a shorter, wider, and lower version of the Q7—it’s a spacious five-seat SUV coupe intended to serve as Audi’s flagship.
Helping to set the Q8 apart from its three-row sibling is a rear design that pays tribute to the original 1985 Audi Quattro, with a sloping roofline that ends at the D-pillar. Inside, an illuminated Quattro badge is placed above the glove compartment right next to a 10.1-inch touchscreen running Audi’s new MMI Touch Response system.
The Q8 is ready for any terrain with a height-adjustable adaptive air suspension that offers up to 10 inches of ground clearance in Offroad mode. Audi’s newest SUV is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 that makes 335 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque with a little help from a mild hybrid setup. With 22-inch wheels, the flagship rolls on the biggest standard rims of any Audi.
In our 2019 Audi Q8 First Drive, we said, “With its superior ground clearance, useful technology, and decent power, Audi’s flagship SUV is a sporty model that enjoys being outdoors. And with a look that’s different from the rest of Audi’s lineup and its competition, it offers buyers a new alternative that’s attractive and dynamic.”
