Porsche Cayenne Platinum Edition Announced

Porsche has announced the Cayenne Platinum Edition, which will be available with a choice of a diesel engine or plug-in hybrid powertrain. The Platinum Edition will be available with come standard with additional equipment such as 20-inch RS Spyder alloy wheels, eight-way leather sports seats, Alcantara center panels, and headrests embossed with the Porsche crest.

HID headlights, park assist, and power steering plus will also be standard on all Cayenne Platinum Edition models. Non-metallic black and white will be the standard exterior color choices, with Deep Black, Purpurite, Mahogany, Carrera White, and Rhodium Silver available as extra-cost options. A high-gloss exterior package rounds out the exterior tweaks that will distinguish the Platinum Edition from other Cayennes.

Stainless steel door sills with the “Platinum Edition” lettering embossed on them will come standard in the diesel-powered versions of the Porsche Cayenne Platinum Edition, while the hybrid gets illuminated door sills. Porsche’s latest PCM infotainment system comes standard along with navigation, the Connected Plus module, and a Bose Surround Sound system. The crossover’s dashboard also gets an analog clock.

If it does  come to the U.S., the Cayenne Platinum Edition will likely be available only as a plug-in hybrid due to the Volkswagen Group’s emissions cheating scandal.  The hybrid powertrain is the same as in the Cayenne S E-Hybrid, which combines a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 with an electric motor for a total system output of 416 hp. On electric power alone, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid can travel up to 22 miles before the gas engine activates.
