Aston Martin Vulcan AMR Pro Debuts at Goodwood

Aston Martin has revealed the more hardcore Vulcan AMR Pro at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, featuring even more performance upgrades for its track-only supercar. The AMR Pro package will be available exclusively to the owners of the 24 Vulcans sold by the automaker who have also received training from its driving instructors at race tracks such as Circuit of the Americas in the U.S. and Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

Included in the AMR Pro package are louvered front panels in the front wheel arches that help reduce aerodynamic lift, dive planes, and a larger front splitter. There’s also a new carbon fiber engine cover that reduces the Vulcan’s overall weight by 5 kg or 11 pounds. Out back, there’s a new rear wing with a dual-plane design and a 20mm Gurney flap that helps increase downforce from 3,150 nm (2,323 lb-ft) to 4,000 nm or around 2,950 lb-ft, which Aston Martin says is more than what the Vantage GTE race car that won its class in the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans. All of the aero upgrades also moves the car’s center of pressure closer to the middle of the car, which helps improve traction, front-end grip, and steering response compared to the standard Vulcan.

The 7.0-liter V-12, on the other hand, remains untouched and still makes upwards of 800 hp. Q by Aston Martin Advanced Operations will install the AMR Pro package for customers who opt for it. Aston Martin says that the first Vulcan with the AMR Pro package will be completed by fall 2017.
