One year after undergoing a complete redesign, the Nissan Armada receives new standard equipment. Most notably for 2018, the full-size SUV adds an optional Intelligent Rear View Mirror with a built-in LCD monitor.
The Armada is the first Nissan vehicle to receive the special rearview mirror setup. It incorporates a high-resolution camera to project an image of the vehicle’s rear surroundings onto the rearview mirror up front. Drivers can switch the projection on and off by pushing a switch at the bottom of the mirror. But keeping the feature active helps drivers see what’s happening behind the vehicle without being encumbered by tall passengers or objects in the back seat. It also reduces glare and improves visibility in low-light conditions compared to a traditional rearview mirror without an LCD monitor.
The 2018 Nissan Armada starts at $46,795, up $700 from last year. All Armadas now come standard with an 8-inch multi-touch display, HD Radio, hands-free text messaging assistant, NissanConnect Services powered by SiriusXM, SiriusXM Travel Link with three years of trial access, enhanced voice recognition, and additional USB ports.
At the top of the lineup sits the Armada Platinum. This trim comes standard with the Intelligent Rear View Mirror and starts at $59,885. That’s $1,100 more than the 2017 version.
The 2018 Armada carries over with a 5.6-liter V-8 engine producing 390 hp. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel-drive is optional.
The updated Armada goes on sale nationwide on September 1.
