The 2018 Jeep Wrangler Might Appear as Early as October

Thanks to the promise of a pickup truck version, a diesel engine option, and a lower curb weight, we’re very much looking forward to the debut of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler. Previously, we’d heard that it would be revealed at the L.A. Auto Show towards the end of November, but according to the latest rumor, we may not have to wait nearly that long.

A staff post on JL Wrangler Forums claims FCA’s original plan was to begin JL Wrangler production on November 13th and then debut the off-roader two weeks later. But according to an anonymous source, FCA is seriously considering starting production two weeks early on October 30th. If that happens, there’s a good chance that Jeep will also reveal the new Wrangler ahead of schedule. It might even drop by the end of October.

Of course, this is a post on a fan forum that cites anonymous sources inside FCA, so it needs to be taken with a grain of salt. The information could very easily be wrong, and even if it isn’t, Jeep could still decide to hold the Wrangler debut until the L.A. Auto Show. That’s even if it begins initial production two weeks earlier like the post suggests. But the forum’s administrators claim they’ve been able to verify the information, so it’s likely not as unlikely as you might think.

So definitely keep an eye out for it at the L.A. Auto Show, but don’t be surprised if it shows up as much as a month early. And when the new Wrangler does officially debut, we’ll be interested to see how many different variations Jeep decides to bring out. Will we get to see the two-door, the four-door, and the truck? Just the four-door?

Regardless, if Jeep is going to continue towards its goal of selling 7 million units a year, it’s going to need the new Wrangler to be a hit. We have a feeling it will be.
