Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus Teases Followup to $2 Million SCG 003

James Glickenhaus may have made most of his money as a movie producer and director, but in the automotive world, he’s known mainly for his car. He commissioned the custom Ferrari P4/5 and started a company called Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus to develop his own car, the SCG 003. But while the SCG 003 cost several million dollars, Glickenhaus’ next car should be a comparative bargain.

Recently, Glickenhaus took to Facebook to show off some renderings of the car SCG plans to develop next. The first angle probably shows the most detail, but sadly, there isn’t much to see yet. Only a few different views of the front end. But he did say the design is based on a concept car from more than 25 years ago that SCG acquired the rights to. We’ll have to see more of the car before we try to guess which concept Glickenhaus is talking about.

But just because the car’s design is still mostly a secret, don’t think all the other details are a secret, as well. Glickenhaus says he’s targeting a price of about $400,000 and expects the engine to make around 650 hp. And with both a carbon-fiber body and chassis, you can assume it will be extremely light, potentially around 2,500 pounds. He also floated the idea of a three-seat layout and the option of a six-speed gated manual transmission.

Sadly, Glickenhaus says making the car emissions-compliant essentially rules out a naturally aspirated engine. But he does promise that there will be very little turbo lag and that it will be tuned to drive like it isn’t turbocharged. Depending on what customers want to use the car for, SCG will also offer a number of different configurations. From the sound of it, if you’re willing to pay, you’ll be able to get your car homologated for pretty much any racing series, including LM GTE, GT4, and potentially even GT3.

The great news is, these won’t be Europe-only specials like a lot of low-volume performance cars are. Glickenhaus says all SCG cars will be built in the U.S. and will be street-legal. He also said he’s looking into building a four-seat SUV that would be a modern version of the Baja Boot. But even if SCG introduces a third model, don’t expect these cars to be remotely affordable to the average person anytime soon. Glickenhaus says even the $200,000 price point is impossible for SCG to hit until it grows into a much larger company.
