Bugatti Divo Will Cost Way More Than a Chiron

Bugatti is making 500 copies of the Chiron, 70 of which were sold last year. If that model is not exclusive enough for you, Bugatti is selling a new car it calls the Divo. Limited to 40 units, the model will bear a much higher price tag than the Chiron. Instead of around $3 million, the Divo will cost 5 million euros, or around $5.87 million at current exchange rates.

The model derives its name from Albert Divo, the French driver who won the Targa Florio race on a mountainous circuit in Sicily for Bugatti twice in the late 1920s. Inspired by the requirements of this race, the Bugatti Divo boasts a lighter weight, higher downforce, and greater g-forces to improve handling. The model will also feature a new design language.

“The Divo is made for corners,” said Bugatti President Stephan Winkelmann in a statement. He continued, “With this project, the Bugatti team has an opportunity to interpret the brand DNA in terms of agile, nimble handling in a significantly more performance-oriented way.”

It’s likely the Divo will borrow significantly from the Chiron. That could include the Chiron’s quad-turbo 8.0-liter W-16 engine that churns out 1,479 hp and 1,180 lb-ft of torque. We’ll learn more when the Divo debuts on August 24 at The Quail—A Motorsports Gathering during Monterey Car Week.
