For those wishing for the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta to have more of a kick, the 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast has come to life.
The 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast packs a powerful 6.5-liter V-12 engine. Although relatively torqueless at 530 lb-ft, the 812 Superfast revs out to 9,000 rpm and makes 789 hp. The Superfast is a firm ride and has sharp inputs with hyper sensitive steering.
The Superfast drives 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds and runs the quarter-mile in 10.4 seconds. These numbers make the 812 Superfast one of the top five quickest rear-wheel-drive cars Motor Trend has tested and by far the quickest front-engine, rear-drive car. The Superfast’s quarter-mile time beats competitors such as the Ferrari 488 GTB and McLaren P1. Unlike its supercar competitors, it’s purely naturally aspirated.
In our First Test we argued, “If there’s never another new naturally aspirated V-12 developed—and the possibility becomes more likely every day—this will be the greatest swan song ever sung.” We also wrote, “It makes you want to pass other cars, not to show off but to share this aural perfection with them. It’s classic V-12 F1 car in the tunnel at Monaco good.”
