Mercedes-AMG announced pricing on the “affordable” version of the GT 4-Door Coupe. The GT 53 4-Door Coupe will start at $99,995, making it quite a bit less expensive than other models in the lineup. As previously announced, the more powerful GT 63 model begins from $137,495. The top-dog GT 63 S will put you out at least $159,995.
The base 53 model comes with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that delivers 429 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque. Unlike the other trims, it uses a mild hybrid system that contributes 21 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque at low engine speeds. Its price undercuts the comparable Porsche Panamera 4S, which delivers 440 hp and 405 lb-ft from its turbocharged V-6 engine and carries a $105,250 starting price. Standard features on the base 53 include navigation, a Burmester sound system, electronically deployable rear spoiler, and a sport suspension with adaptive adjustable damping. Top speed is 174 mph, compared to 193 and 195 mph for the 63 and 63 S, respectively.
The GT 63 4-Door Coupe delivers 577 hp and 590 lb-ft from its twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine. This engine cuts the base model’s estimated 0-60 time by 1.1 second to 3.3 seconds. The S model features a more powerful version of that engine that produces 630 hp and 664 lb-ft and carries a 0-60 estimate of 3.1 seconds. These two models are currently on sale.
The new Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe goes on sale this spring.
