First Production Porsche Taycan Teased Ahead of Debut

If you feel like the Porsche Taycan‘s reveal has been just as dragged out as the Toyota Supra‘s, you’re not alone. Porsche’s been teasing us with little tidbits here and there for what feels like forever. But today, Porsche finally released official images of the production Taycan. Unfortunately, they don’t show very much.

From what we’ve heard, the Taycan will be revealed in September, so we still have another six months before we get to see the whole car. But just because these close-ups only show the production Taycan from certain angles doesn’t mean there’s nothing to see. For example, as we’ve seen in earlier spy shots, the overall shape is very Panamera-esque. Expect the Taycan to be smaller than the Panamera, however. The concept’s headlights have also been swapped out in favor of more traditional (and Panamera-inspired) ones.

Moving to the side, the charging port is clearly visible on the driver-side front fender. The door handles, meanwhile, look like they retract to be completely flush with the sheetmetal for better aerodynamics. And while there will probably be multiple wheel options, the ones shown here are five-spoke black rims that reveal a set of massive brake discs. Expect those fender vents to be functional, too. Around back, it looks like Porsche went with a traditional trunk instead of a hatch and added a retractable active spoiler similar to the Panamera’s.

Porsche has also already confirmed most of the Taycan’s production specs. When it goes on sale toward the end of this year, the all-wheel-drive Taycan’s two motors will combine to make at least 600 hp. That’s said to be enough to launch from 060 mph in less than 3.5 seconds on your way to a top speed of 124 mph. And while it will have a range of more than 300 miles, the Taycan’s 800-volt battery will need only 15 minutes on the right charger to add another 250 miles of range.

The bad news is, if you were hoping to buy one as a Christmas present and haven’t already placed your order, you may be out of luck. From what we’ve heard, the first year’s production run has already sold out.
