Porsche will debut the Cayenne coupe later this month, Autocar reports.
Although it’s a bit of a niche vehicle, Porsche U.K. boss Marcus Eckermann told Autocar that the Cayenne coupe is a “very important car for us.” He said, “In the U.K., I don’t think it will make up as much as half of the overall Cayenne line-up mix, but it will be a good share of it.”
The Porsche Cayenne coupe will compete with other non-traditional SUVs like the BMW X6, Mercedes GLE Coupe, and Audi Q8. Considering the popularity of the segment in the U.S., we think the Cayenne coupe has a very good chance of coming our way.
Sales will be begin in autumn, Autocar reports. Porsche declined to comment to MotorTrend when asked about timing for a U.S. market launch. But a spokesman said the automaker hopes to share more news soon.
The coupe is expected to launch with a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V-6 with 440 hp and a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 with 550 hp. These engines come from the Cayenne S and the Cayenne Turbo, respectively.
Expect the coupe to look a lot like the regular Cayenne, but with a sloped roofline. Judging from prototypes, the model is likely to get a unique front bumper design. The crossover will also feature a retractable rear spoiler that will move in one piece, unlike the split wing design on the Panamera.
