To honor the winning GT40 Mark II race car driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon at the 1966 Le Mans, Ford will introduce the 2017 Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition. The limited edition features a unique black and silver-stripe livery as well as exclusive race-number graphics and interior colors, materials, and appointments.
“Celebrating the anniversary of Ford’s historic victories at Le Mans has always been a part of the return of the Ford GT,” said Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president of product development and chief technical officer, in a statement. “The 2017 Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition is a stunning tribute to the car that kicked off Ford’s string of Le Mans victories in 1966.”
Along with the exterior updates on the ’66 Heritage Edition, the interior features carbon-fiber seats wrapped in Ebony leather, offering pillowed inserts and plow-through stitching. The head restraints and steering wheel bear the Ford GT logo, while the instrument panel, pillars, and headliner are wrapped in Ebony leather with gold appliques. The seat belts feature unique blue webbing. The last of the modifications include a serialized identification plate, #2 interior door graphic, and exposed matte carbon fiber door sills, air register pods, and center console.
The 2017 Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition will only be available for the 2017 model year in limited quantities. Check out the gallery below for a closer look.
