Porsche hasn’t completely redesigned the Panamera since it first debuted for the 2010 model year. It’s time for big changes, and that’s exactly what the Panamera receives.
These exclusive new photos give us our best look yet at the 2017 Porsche Panamera. Like we’ve seen before, the Panamera’s backside loses its bulbous shape in favor of a more streamlined look. The taillights are much thinner than before, although the headlights retain their same basic shape. Thanks to these images, we see a massive active rear spoiler for the first time on this model. It appears capable of not only extending but also widening when needed.
Inside the cabin, you’ll notice the Panamera doesn’t have as many buttons and toggles as a commercial airplane anymore. Instead, look for a large touchscreen that’s no longer cluttered by surrounding air vents. Touch-based climate controls on the center stack add to the simpler look. In the rear, another touchscreen allows backseat drivers to adjust their own comfort settings.
The new Panamera will ride on Volkswagen Group’s new modular MSB platform. It sheds up to 200 pounds off the current car’s architecture, which should help improve handling. We expect it to offer an updated version of the familiar 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6, a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8, and at least one hybrid option. As we previously reported, production on the new model should start early next year.
