New Kia Rio Shows Off More Refined Look

Kia has revealed its fourth-generation Rio ahead of the car’s official debut at the Paris Motor Show in a few weeks. Although it’s slightly bigger than the old model, the new Kia Rio looks more refined with its squarer body.

The hatch receives a flat face with a squared-off grille, similar to the one we’ve seen in earlier renderings. Ditching the bug-eyed look of the previous Rio, thinner headlights project a new U-shaped LED light signature on the new model. The small car also dons a more upright C-pillar and shorter rear overhang for a sportier appeal. A new character line runs across the car’s headlights, shoulders, along its doors, and to the rear, which features thinner taillights.

The automaker has expanded the Rio’s dimensions a bit, although it’s hardly noticeable. It’s now 15 mm longer than its predecessor and 5 mm wider. Just 10 mm have been added to the wheelbase, although the car is now 5 mm shorter in height.

Inside the cabin, look for gloss black and metallic accents as well as a new stand-alone touchscreen that sits high up on the dashboard. Kia says the Rio will offer black or grey cloth seats, black or grey artificial leather seats, and special black and red artificial leather seats.

The fourth-gen Kia Rio will debut in the flesh and blood on September 29 at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. It heads to production toward the end of this year in Europe, but Kia still hasn’t given a timeline for other markets including the U.S. In our market, the Rio was just given a pretty significant update for 2016.
