Ford has started taking orders for the revived Mustang Bullitt ahead of its launch this summer. When Ford revealed the car in Detroit earlier this year, it promised an output of “at least 475 hp,” and now we know it will make exactly 480 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque on 93-octane fuel.
Ford isn’t revealing how many copies it will sell, but says to act fast because it’s a limited-edition model. Pricing has been finalized at $47,495, including $900 destination. That’s significantly more expensive than the $36,090 starting price for the Mustang GT fastback, but the special model features content from the Premium and Performance packages to justify the higher cost.
For the money, buyers can enjoy a top speed of 163 mph. That’s an increase of 8 mph over the regular Mustang GT, which makes 460 hp. Special performance cues include a performance open air intake, an intake manifold from the Mustang Shelby GT350, and a quad-tip exhaust finished in black NitroPlate.
Two exterior color options will be available: Shadow Black and Dark Highland Green. The Bullitt also features a black grille, chrome accents on the grille and front windows, torque-thrust 19-inch aluminum wheels, and red Brembo brakes. Inside the cabin, you’ll find loads of leather and green stitching throughout the cabin. A classic cue ball shifter and 12-inch digital LCD instrument cluster complete the look.
The limited-edition car arrives on the 50th anniversary of the Steve McQueen movie Bullitt. The iconic chase scene at the film’s climax features a Highland Green 1968 Ford Mustang GT 390 fastback.
