At the Los Angeles Auto Show last year, Kia revealed the refreshed version of its Sorento midsize crossover. Now we finally know pricing. And as it turns out, the 2019 Kia Sorento is a bit more expensive than the current version.
With destination included, the base price of the entry-level Sorento L is $26,980, $90 more than the pre-refreshed Sorento L. Step up to the nicer LX, and you’ll pay $28,480. The mid-level Sorento EX starts at $36,580, while the fancier SX costs $40,980. Choose the top-of-the-line Sorento SXL, however, and the price rises to $45,680.
All trim levels can be ordered with front-wheel drive, but on every version above the L, Kia will let you add all-wheel drive for $1,800. And while the EX, SX, and SXL include a 290-hp 3.3-liter V-6 as standard, it can be added to the LX for $3,800. Otherwise, the L and LX share the same 2.4-liter inline-four with 185 hp. There’s no charge for the third-row option since seven-passenger seating comes standard across the line.
Besides updating the Sorento’s styling for 2019, Kia added an updated infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, a number of driver assistance and safety features, and more luxurious interior options. The all-wheel-drive system now pairs a locking center differential with torque vectoring to improve the Sorento’s handling and off-road capability. Based on what we can see in the video below, the Sorento’s updated all-wheel-drive system gives it a surprising amount of off-road capability.
There’s still no information regarding the 2019 Kia Sorento’s on-sale date, but it should hit dealers fairly soon.
