On most modern cars, hood ornaments look dated and out of style. But when the redesigned Flying Spur is revealed later this year, it looks like Bentley plans to buck that trend. And as you can see in the video below, not only will the new Flying Spur get a gorgeous hood ornament, it will be retractable, as well.
Granted, in order to meet pedestrian impact regulations, you probably have to make the hood ornament retractable. That’s also probably part of the reason you don’t see some of the gorgeous pointier hood ornaments that were popular in the past. Plus, a retractable hood ornament is harder to steal.
As for the rest of the car, there isn’t a lot of official information available. We expect to see a lot of the new Continental GT‘s influence in the final design, as the sketch above suggests. But beyond that, Bentley hasn’t said much. Considering how gorgeous and luxurious the new Continental GT is, though, simply stretching it into a four-door sedan would be enough to give Rolls-Royce a real run for its money.
From what we hear, Bentley could reveal the Flying Spur in early September. Right now, the automaker is only saying full details will be released “later this year.”
