Teen Creates Tesloop Ride Service to Help Pay for His New Model S

Working at In-n-Out wasn’t going to cut it for one teenager.  Earlier this year Haydn Sonnad, a 16-year-old who hails from Los Angeles, wanted to own a Tesla Model S. His dad agreed loan him to money as long helped contribute to the monthly payments. And with that, an entrepreneur was born.

Sonnad’s solution? Turn his new Model S into a money maker. He founded Tesloop, which is essentially a premium, zero-emissions ride-sharing service to shuttle customers between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The service costs $85 each way.

Since Sonnad is too young to be a legally-paid driver, Tesloop relies on hired pilots. Once a ride is booked, the customer meets their pilot at a designated Supercharger station in Los Angeles to begin the trek to Sin City. Tesloop will accept up to four passengers, and while Wifi is free, phone calls are restricted to three minutes as a courtesy to other riders. The four-hour trek necessitates a quick pit stop to recharge, which is done at the Supercharger station in Barstow.

For now Tesloop only travels to Vegas, but is planning to expand to other cities like Palm Springs and San Francisco. A plane ride may be quicker, but the convenience and zero-emissions travel definitely make Tesloop an appealing alternative.
