CARS.COM — Ford is recalling eight models from its Ford, Lincoln and Mercury brands as part of the Takata recall expansion that was announced in May 2016 by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration; the new recall includes defective front passenger-side airbag inflators.

Nearly 1.9 million Ford cars in the U.S. and its territories are affected by the growing Takata recall; safety regulators report that 10 deaths in the U.S. have been linked to the defect.
The recalled vehicles are:
- 2007-10 Ford Edge SUVs
- 2006-11 Ford Fusion sedans
- 2005-11 Ford Mustang sports cars
- 2007-11 Ford Ranger pickup trucks
- 2007-10 Lincoln MKX SUVs
- 2006-11 Lincoln MKZ and Zephyr sedans
- 2006-11 Mercury Milan sedans
Dealers will replace the passenger-side front airbag inflator for free; the driver-side airbag inflators are not recalled in these cars, Ford said in a statement.
In May 2015, Ford recalled the 2005-14 Mustang and 2005-06 GT exotic car for driver-side airbag inflators. The 2004-06 Ford Ranger pickup assembled at Ford's Twin Cities Assembly Plant in Minnesota was recalled earlier for both driver- and passenger-side airbag inflators.
