Ford Adds 1.9 Million Vehicles to Takata Recall

Nearly 1.9 million Ford cars in the U.S. and its territories are affected by the growing Takata recall; safety regulators report that 10 deaths in the U.S. have been linked to the defect.

The recalled vehicles are:

  • 2007-10 Ford Edge SUVs
  • 2006-11 Ford Fusion sedans
  • 2005-11 Ford Mustang sports cars
  • 2007-11 Ford Ranger pickup trucks
  • 2007-10 Lincoln MKX SUVs
  • 2006-11 Lincoln MKZ and Zephyr sedans
  • 2006-11 Mercury Milan sedans

Dealers will replace the passenger-side front airbag inflator for free; the driver-side airbag inflators are not recalled in these cars, Ford said in a statement.

In May 2015, Ford recalled the 2005-14 Mustang and 2005-06 GT exotic car for driver-side airbag inflators. The 2004-06 Ford Ranger pickup assembled at Ford's Twin Cities Assembly Plant in Minnesota was recalled earlier for both driver- and passenger-side airbag inflators.
