The Ford Focus RS is arguably the hottest hot hatch on the market, and buyers will be able to better explore that hotness through a complimentary driving lesson at the Ford Performance Racing School in Grantsville, Utah. Ford is offering owners of 2016 and 2017 Focus RS hatchbacks a free one-day course at the school, which is located at the former Miller Motorsports Park complex outside of Salt Lake City.
Called the RS Adrenaline Academy, the program is similar to the ST Octane Academy previously offered to owners of Focus ST and Fiesta ST cars. Participants will have to pay their own way for travel and lodging, but Ford covers the costs of the one-day course. There, owners will receive classroom instruction; take part in shifting, braking, and cornering exercises; and learn how to use all four of the Focus RS driving modes, including Drift Mode. Judging by a few recent videos showing Drift Mode fails, some owners could use the lessons. A second day on track in a Ford Mustang GT is an extra-cost option. The program provides students with prepared Focus RS hatchbacks, which come outfitted with full safety gear. There will be an option for owners to enroll with a guest.
Ford isn’t the only automaker offering free driving lessons with purchase. FCA recently announced that buyers of Fiat 124 Spider Abarth and 500 Abarth models will receive a free one-day course at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving.
Ford says a class schedule will be available soon. Click here for more information on the program.
