Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, Porsche 911 Carrera S go Head 2 Head

The 82nd episode of “Head 2 Head” is a special one involving the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport and the refreshed Porsche 911 Carrera S. Previous versions of both cars starred in the very first episode of H2H where the 911 prevailed as the winner, and now it’s time to find out if the Porsche can repeat its victory over the improved ‘Vette.

The Corvette Grand Sport essentially combines the Stingray’s naturally aspirated 460-hp V-8 with the Corvette Z06’s handling bits, including the fancy magnetorheological shocks. Meanwhile, the big news with the 911 Carrera S is its new turbocharged six-cylinder.

Hosts Jason Cammisa and Jonny Lieberman start out by noting key differences between the two cars. For starters, the Porsche makes less power (420 hp), but also weighs 111 pounds less than the ‘Vette, which tips the scales at 3,461 pounds. However, the Porsche has a quick dual-clutch gearbox, while the Vette is equipped with a manual. At the track, the Grand Sport managed to run to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and complete the figure-eight track in 22.3 seconds.

Next up, the hosts head to the canyons and find few faults with both cars. They decide to let Randy Pobst settle the score at Willow Springs where he says the 911 Carrera S “might be better than the GT3” and declares the Corvette Grand Sport a “much easier car to drive” than the Z06. But is the Chevy a better car than the Porsche? Watch the video below to find out and let us know which car you would pick in the comments section.
