500-HP Rezvani Beast Alpha is Just the Car When a Huracan is Too Common

Imagine the entrance you’ll make in the 2017 Rezvani Beast Alpha. Looking not quite like anything your super-rich friends drive, the Alpha version of the Rezvani Beast weighs in at just under 2,000 pounds, the manufacturer claims, yet is powered by a highly modified 500-hp engine that started life as an Acura K24 naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine. The real eyebrow-raiser for those watching you pull up to the valet station are the SideWinder doors, which open out and toward the front of the car. We’re not sure if that makes it easier to get in and out, but it is different.

If you’re the type of $200,000 supercar buyer who actually drives your cars beyond the boulevard, know that the car is based on a Lotus-derived aluminum monocoque, so it’s got good bones. The body is carbon fiber, and the wheels are forged 18-inchers, with 19s being optional. About that Acura K24 engine and the car’s dynamics, Rezvani has added a number of modifications, from a high-performance turbo and remapped ECU to an “aggressively tuned” exhaust system. Acceleration from 0-60 comes in 3.2 seconds with the available sequential automatic, or 3.5 seconds with a six-speed manual, on to a 175-mph top speed. Those are impressive numbers, but we should mention that a 2014 Huracan we tested hit 60 in 2.8 seconds.

As you’d expect with a $200,000 car, throttle response and handling are customizable, and Rezvani says there are settings to increase eco-friendly fuel choices — perhaps for when you’re searching for a gas station after a spirited run down a winding road.

And given the Beast Alpha’s Lotus connection, we hope owners will actually drive the car. The Beast Alpha, which has a removable targa top, is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The lightweight Rezvani Beast Alpha is small, measuring just 165.2 inches, or shorter than the 175.6-inch Huracan.

We’re guessing that the car might not be as daily-driver friendly as the Huracan was during one example’s 30-day stay with Motor Trend, but the Rezvani Beast Alpha offers a unique package you won’t find as often as others in this price range. So tell us: For around $200,000, would you consider the 2017 Rezvani Beast Alpha?
