While one driver was out catching Pokemon in the middle of the roadway, police officers were trying to track down a Slowpoke behind the wheel. On Monday, police in a helicopter captured footage of a car making several suspicious stops and turns, only to find out the driver was playing Pokemon Go.
The incident occurred just past 3 a.m. in a neighborhood in Ontario, Canada. The helicopter followed the vehicle as it drove very slowly down a large road and briefly stopped in a parking lot and then in front of a park. Police later revealed the officers in the helicopter may have been concerned (rightfully so) that the driver was impaired or that a criminal act was about to be committed. Ground units were sent in to check out the scene, and amazingly, the driver got off with a warning and no charges.
Unless you’ve been living under a Golem or Geodude, you’ve probably heard about other dangerous road incidents involving Pokemon Go. One recent video showed a driver crashing into a parked police car while trying to catch Pokemon. Fortunately, it looks like you might be able to hire someone to drive you around while you play the game, though.
