Kia just released a set of sketches teasing the next generation of its full-size, front-drive sedan. The Korean automaker says the redesigned Kia Cadenza will “set new standards for design and interior quality.”
Styling for the next-generation Kia Cadenza appears to be an evolution of the current model’s design with the company’s signature Tiger Nose grille and swooping roofline giving it more of a “four-door coupe” look. Kia says the new design will feature a long hood, wider and lower stance, and sharper body lines. Inside, the next-generation model will bring a more luxurious interior design and higher quality materials “inspired by European tastes.”
No powertrain details have been revealed. The current car is powered by a 3.3-liter DOHC V-6 with direct injection, continuously variable valve timing, and three-stage intake manifold. Power is rated 293 hp at 6,400 rpm and 255 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 rpm. A six-speed automatic sends power to the front wheels. The current powertrain combo earns an EPA-rated 19/28 mpg. We expect the automaker to improve on those numbers for the next-generation model.
Kia says the next-generation model will go on sale in certain markets next year, likely as a 2017 model. What do you think of the Cadenza’s redesign?
