The redesigned Civic stands out with a premium driving experience and active safety features. In his Cars.com review of the Civic, Mike Hanley writes, "Criticized for an austere redesign of its Civic compact car a few years ago, Honda has responded with an all-new 2016 Civic that's entertaining to drive, has a premium feel and offers advanced active safety features." Read his review here.

The XC90 wowed our reviewers with "a complete overhaul that's stunning inside and out, with a host of technology that not only impresses, it works instinctively." Read the review here.

An independent jury of 57 automotive journalists, including Cars.com's Joe Wiesenfelder and Kelsey Mays, determines the North American Car and Truck/Utility awards.

Cars.com's Best of 2016 award nominees are the Civic, XC90, Chevrolet Malibu, Honda HR-V, Kia Sorento and Toyota Prius. The Best of award will be announced Tuesday night.
