Mercedes-Benz kicked off 2016 by teasing the 2017 E-Class sedan again before its debut at the 2016 Detroit auto show. After releasing photos and a video highlighting the car’s S-Class-inspired interior design, and footage exploring the car’s development and testing, the newest teaser gives a glimpse at the E-Class’ exterior. One of the key highlights on the video is the E-Class’ new Multibeam headlights, which turn towards the direction you’re headed and come with 84 independent LED bulbs.
The front view provides a look at the car’s new face, which continues to have a four-eyed look thanks to two LED strips in each headlight that make them appear as two pairs of lights clustered together. Featuring a long hood and a cab rearward design, the E-Class will have a more aggressive front fascia, and a revised radiator grille with a large three-pointed star embedded in it. Additionally, the car’s silhouette is also shown, revealing a family resemblance with the C- and S-Class sedans.
In addition to a host of new tech features like an upgraded infotainment system and car-to-car communication, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will also be available with an expanded suite of active safety systems. New engines are also expected to debut in the new E-Class, including an inline-6 that should also find their way into other Mercedes-Benz vehicles. High-performance AMG variants should come with the new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 that are currently utilized in the C63, C63 S, and the Best Driver’s Car-winning AMG GT S. Look for Mercedes’ new 9-speed automatic gearbox to find their way into more pedestrian variants of the 2017 E-Class.
