Acura will debut a redesigned MDX at the New York auto show, and if this rendering is any indication, it should receive some big changes.
“The 2017 MDX will boast substantial design enhancements, added luxury comfort and convenience features, and advanced new powertrain technology,” Honda said in a recent press release today without providing additional details.
The Acura MDX was completely redesigned for the 2014 model year and is in its third generation. Even for the most recent 2016 model, it received big changes like a new nine-speed automatic transmission and updated Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system. Currently, its sole engine choice is a 290-hp 3.5-liter V-6 topping out at 20/27 mpg city/highway, but those numbers could change. The model is Acura’s best-selling SUV, and is the best-selling three–row luxury SUV of all time, says Honda.
The 2017 Acura MDX was designed at the Acura Design Studio in Torrance, Calif. Not only will Acura continue MDX production at its Lincoln, Ala. plant, but it will also start building additional units at its plant in East Liberty, Ohio. We’ll learn more when Honda debuts the redesigned MDX at the New York auto show on March 23.
