1 best of : Fiat 124 Spider Abarth Teased in New Video

Abarth UK has posted a video teasing the upcoming 124 Spider Abarth. Essentially a more potent variant of the 2017 Fiat 124 Spider, the 124 Abarth is rumored to have around 200 hp, but it’s unknown whether it will receive a detuned version of the 1.8-liter turbo-four from the Alfa Romeo 4C or a version of the 1.4-liter turbo-four in the standard 124 Spider.

The video, called “The Real Italian Job: The Full Story,” starts in Turin, Italy, in Abarth’s headquarters where three masked men steal documents and plans about Project 348. They then drive off in three Fiat 500 Abarths to escape Turin and head for London. Once the video cuts to the scenes in London, you see a man holding a scale model of a classic Abarth 124 Sport Spider rally car featuring its signature color scheme of black and white.

Driving through the streets of London at night, the three 500 Abarths are then chased down by a Jeep Grand Cherokee, causing them to split off, with the white one eventually escaping alone. As the white 500 Abarth arrives, the driver takes out a briefcase from the cargo area and presents it to the client where the camera moves over his shoulder. He then opens the briefcase to reveal a sketch of the 124 Abarth inside.

Look for the Fiat 124 Abarth to debut this year, likely at next week’s 2016 Geneva auto show.
