2017 Honda Pilot Gets Apple CarPlay, Other Minor Updates

Honda just released a new generation Pilot for the 2016 model year, so the large crossover will receive few updates for 2017. But the updates are good ones at least.

Following in the footsteps of the Accord, Civic, and Ridgeline, the Honda Pilot will also receive Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All Pilots except the base trim level will feature smartphone connectivity that’s integrated with the 8-inch touchscreen. This touchscreen now comes with a new coating that Honda says will help reduce smudges and fingerprints.

Also, buyers now have more options for color combinations this year. The black interior is now available on all trims optioned with the White Diamond Pearl exterior. Previously, this combo was only available on the top model.

Prices for the 2017 Honda Pilot begin at $31,475, just $230 more than last year’s base model. EX models, which come with smartphone connectivity, start at $33,910, also $230 more than the previous version. For top-trim Elite models, which feature a panoramic sunroof, heated second-row captain chairs, and auto off/on LED headlights, you can end up paying $47,950.

Regardless of the trim level, the Pilot comes with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine producing 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. In our First Test, the Pilot was able to complete the 0-60 mph run in a reasonably quick 6.5 seconds.

The 2017 Honda Pilot goes on sale November 7.
