2017 Toyota Highlander Starts at $31,570

The 2017 Toyota Highlander goes on sale later this month with a starting price of $31,570. Depending on which trim you choose, prices have increased between $140 and $1,270 from last year.

For the new model year, the Highlander receives updated styling and revised powertrains. Buyers also get the Toyta Safety Sense P as standard equipment. This includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, dynamic radar cruise control, and automatic high beams. Other standard features on the base LE model include a backup camera, Entune audio system with 6.1 inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, folding second and third row seats, and a windshield wiper de-icer. Opting for a V-6 instead of the standard four-cylinder will cost an extra $2,050. All-wheel drive is also an option.

All other models receive a V-6 engine as standard equipment. Upgrading to the LE Plus model, priced at $36,000 with two-wheel drive and $37,460 with all-wheel drive, and you’ll get SofTex seats, fog lights, an upgraded infotainment system with 8-inch display and SiriusXM, three-zone climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Prices for this model have jumped $665 from last year.

The next step up is the XLE, which nets leather upholstery, heated front seats, smart key with push-button start, a moonroof, navigation, second-row sun shades, an anti-theft system and other upgrades. This model goes for $39,460 with two-wheel drive and $40,920 with all-wheel drive.

SE models are even more expensive and bring a sport-tuned front and rear suspension, 10-inch alloy wheels, and cosmetic upgrades like dark paint treatment to the front grille, headlamps and roof rails, and black seats with silver stitching. Prices go for $40,630, or $42,090 with all-wheel drive.

Limited models receive special Chromtec wheels, blue LED ambient lighting, seven-passenger seating with second-row captain’s chairs, heated and ventilated front seats, and other upgrades for $42,620 with two-wheel drive or $44,080 with all-wheel drive. Tack on the Platinum package and you’ll be granted heated second-row captain’s chairs, a panoramic moonroof, bird’s eye view camera, a heated steering wheel, and other goodies. But you should be prepared to spend $45,740, or $47,200 with all-wheel drive.

Most Highlanders receive a new 3.5-liter V-6 that delivers 295 hp, an increase of 25 hp over last year’s model. Along with the base model that gets a four-cylinder engine, there is also a separate Highlander Hybrid. This vehicle utilizes the same V-6 engine in the standard Highlander, but adds a hybrid system for improved fuel economy. Highlander Hybrid models are offered in LE, XLE, Limited, and Limited Platinum grades, and prices range between $37,210 and $48,820. On average, prices for the Highlander Hybrid have actually decreased $2,746 from last year.
