Refreshed 2017 Nissan Versa Note Revealed, Debuts in L.A.

Nissan revealed the face-lifted 2017 Versa Note today ahead of its debut at the L.A. auto show next week. The Japanese automaker also revealed the 2017 Nissan Juke Black Pearl Edition, a limited-production model with a unique paint scheme.

The Versa Note adopts Nissan’s corporate V-Motion grille and gains new headlights and a redesigned front bumper. The taillights are also slightly revised, and all models get the rear bumper that was previously only offered on the SR trim. The Note also gets new Monarch Orange and Deep Blue Purple exterior colors. S Plus and SV models get new wheel cover designs, while SL trims get new 16-inch alloys. Nissan says the refreshed interior incorporates changes driven by customer input, including larger cupholders, a second 12-volt outlet on SV, SR, and SL trims, and the relocation of the USB port.

The Versa Note is still powered by a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter I-4 that makes 109 hp and 107 lb-ft of torque. Though the Versa Note could previously be had with a five-speed manual, an Xtronic CVT is now the only transmission choice. Nissan says the 2017 Versa Note achieves up to 39 mpg on the highway, down from 40 mpg last year.

The 2017 Versa Note starts at $16,345, an increase of $1,250 from last year. The range-topping SL model commands a whopping $19,575 and comes standard with a 5.8-inch touchscreen running navigation and apps, SiriusXM Traffic an Travel Link, Nissan’s Around View Monitor, heated front seats, heated mirrors, and 16-inch alloy wheels. The 2017 Nissan Versa Note goes on sale in late November.

2017 Nissan Juke Black Pearl Edition

The Juke Black Pearl Edition is the third vehicle to come out of the Juke Color Studio, joining the previous Yellow Stinger and Black Stinger editions. The special model is based on the SV trim and comes in your choice of front- or all-wheel drive. Just 1,250 units will be built, with 1,000 of those bound for the U.S. and the remaining 250 reserved for Canada.

Nissan says the “Black Pearl” name was originally used on a limited-edition 1978 Datsun 280Z. The special Juke is finished in black with contrasting white accents on the foglight surrounds, front valance, mirror caps, door handles, rear valance, and rear spoiler. The Black Pearl Edition also gets special badging on the rear. The 17-inch alloy wheels are painted in Super Black, and come wrapped in 215/55R17-size tires. The interior features heated black cloth seats with white inserts and stitching, white and black door inserts, white HVAC vents, a white-accented gear selector, and white window switches. The Juke’s trademark motorcycle-like center console is also painted white, and the black steering wheel gets white stitching.

The Black Pearl Edition receives the same 188-hp, 177-lb-ft turbocharged 1.6-liter I-4 as the rest of the non-Nismo Juke lineup, and is only offered with a CVT. The Black Pearl Edition package will retail for $1,190, which would be tacked on to the Juke SV’s $23,490 starting price.

The two new vehicles will debut next week in L.A., and will be joined on stage by the 2017 Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition and an unknown new Nismo product. Stay tuned.
