The fifth-generation 2017 Subaru Impreza sedan and hatchback can be had for under $20,000 when they go on sale in the coming months. Models with the five-speed manual arrive in early 2017; sedans are priced at $19,215 and hatchbacks start at $19,715. Impreza models equipped with a CVT are available later this year for an extra $1,000.
Standard features on the base 2.0i model include a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone compatibility, rearview camera, carpeted floor mats, and power windows, power door locks, and power side mirrors. Base models are just $125 more expensive than they were for the 2016 model year.
Upgrading to the Premium model adds an all-weather package with heated front seats, windshield wiper de-icer, heated exterior mirrors, and automatic headlights. Sixteen-inch alloy wheels arrive on this model, and wagons get standard roof rails. Only available with a CVT, the Premium model goes for $22,015 for the sedan or $22,515 for the wagon.
Enhancements to the Sport model include an 8.0-inch multimedia system, push-button start, aluminum pedals, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift handle, and a CVT shift boot when equipped with the CVT. Sedans start at $22,815 with the manual or $23,615 with the CVT, and wagon models go for $23,315 or $24,115 respectively.
At the top of the lineup sits the Impreza Limited, which starts at $24,915 in sedan form or $25,415 in the wagon variant. These models come standard with a CVT, automatic climate control, an 8-inch Starlink multimedia unit, and white gauge cluster illumination. Leather-trimmed seats come with contrast stitching. A six-way power driver seat is a first for an Impreza, and a new TomTom navigation system is now available.
Option packages in the Impreza lineup include a $1,000 moonroof. The most expensive package, priced at $3,845, bundles together EyeSight safety technologies, blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert, a moonroof, navigation, and a Harman Kardon amplifier and speakers. Prices listed above assume a destination charge of $820, although that price varies in a handful of states.
The 2017 Subaru Impreza features a revised 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine making 152 hp. The model also sits on the brand new Subaru Global platform.
