Chevrolet Cruze, Malibu Blue Line Concepts Revealed Ahead of SEMA

Chevy is planning to roll out its usual slew of SEMA concepts in the run-up to Vegas’ biggest event, starting today with the Cruze and Malibu Blue Line concepts. Two of the milder offerings in this year’s crop, these white cars with blue wheels, badging, window tinting, and interior accent stitching are intended to highlight some of the most accessible accessories from the vast Chevrolet Performance Vehicles/Parts/Racing catalogue.

The Cruze started out life as an RS hatch. Performance enhancements include the 5JL performance brake package that will be available by the end of 2016 (performance pads clamping larger 11.8-inch Duralife rotors in front, with all four calipers painted red), a low-restriction air intake kit and performance exhaust with quad-tips in chrome (both coming in mid-2017), and the currently available SG3 performance suspension kit (stiffer front and rear springs that lower the car by 0.4 inch, and a stiffer front anti-roll bar). Outside, the car features an experimental three-coat Genesis White paint that appears bright white in some lighting conditions; light gray in others. The white is accented with matte “Blue Edge” 18-inch concept wheels wrapped in 225/45 series Michelin tires, blue Cruze badges and black bowties and RS emblems. There’s also a chrome grille insert that’s available now. Inside you’ll find illuminated door sill plates, sport pedal covers, and the WGK interior trim kit.

The Malibu Blue Line follows much the same formula, using the same color scheme plus an accessory black grille, a ground-effects body kit with rear diffuser gloss black, and a flush-mount spoiler. There are also new tinted headlamp and taillamp lenses. Performance bits include an SCJ suspension kit that also lowers the car by 0.4 inch and boasts similarly stiffened springs and front anti-roll bar, plus a shock-tower brace (SLN). This kit is optimized for Malibus with the 2.0-liter 250-hp engine and all new nine-speed automatic transmission. There’s also a performance brake kit with calipers painted in Harbor Gray Metallic.

Chevy will also be making it abundantly clear to show-goers and potential customers that all the parts it sells are not only designed, developed, tested, and validated by the same engineers to the same standards as the production parts, but they are also warrantied and guaranteed not to void the original manufacturer warranty when installed by an approved dealer. Stay tuned for many more SEMA vehicles rolling out in the coming days.
